Stability and Accuracy of Numerical Boundary Conditions in Aeroelastic Analysis

چکیده
This paper analyses the accuracy and numerical stability of coupling procedures in aeroelastic modelling. A two-dimensional model problem assuming unsteady inviscid ow past an oscillating wall leads to an even simpler one-dimensional model problem. Analysis of different numerical algorithms shows that in general the coupling procedures are numerically stable, but care is required to achieve accuracy when using very few timesteps per period of natural oscillation of the structure. The relevance of the analysis to fully three-dimensional applications is discussed.

The effect of boundary conditions on the accuracy and stability of the numerical solution of fluid flows by Lattice-Boltzmann method
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of boundary conditions on the accuracy and stability of the numerical solution of fluid flows in the context of single relaxation time Lattice Boltzmann method (SRT-LBM). The fluid flows are simulated using regularized, no-slip, Zou-He and bounce back boundary conditions for straight surfaces in a lid driven cavity and the two-dimensional flow ...
متن کاملHelicopter Blade Stability Analysis Using Aeroelastic Frequency Response Functions
In the present paper, the aeroelastic stability of helicopter rotor blade is determined using Aeroelastic Frequency Response Function. The conventional methods of aeroelastic stability usually use an iterative procedure while the present method does not require such approach. Aeroelastic Frequency Response Functions are obtained by inverting dynamic stiffness matrix of the aeroelastic system. S...
متن کاملIMPOSITION OF ESSENTIAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS IN ISOGEOMETRIC ANALYSIS USING THE LAGRANGE MULTIPLIER METHOD
NURBS-based isogeometric analysis (IGA) has currently been applied as a new numerical method in a considerable range of engineering problems. Due to non-interpolatory characteristic of NURBS basis functions, the properties of Kronecker Delta are not satisfied in IGA, and as a consequence, the imposition of essential boundary condition needs special treatment. The main contribution of this study...
متن کاملAnalysis of Euler-Bernoulli nanobeams: A mechanical-based solution
The accuracy and efficiency of the elements proposed by finite element method (FEM) considerably depend on the interpolating functions namely shape functions used to formulate the displacement field within the element. In the present study, novel functions, namely basic displacements functions (BDFs), are introduced and exploited for structural analysis of nanobeams using finite element method ...
متن کاملStress Analysis of Flight Vehicles under Flight Conditions
A method is presented for the stress analysis of flight vehicles under different flight conditions including gust and control surface deflection (or maneuver) using the governing equations of rigid-body motions and elastic deformations. The Lagrangian approach is used to derive the governing equations of motions. For this purpose, the basic equations of motions are derived in terms of potential...
